Main features of Korea neotectonics and Japan Sea genesis

Main features of Korea neotectonics and Japan Sea genesis

Tikhookeanskaya Geologiya = Pacific Geology 1990(5): 3-11

The most intense vertical movements of the post-early Quaternary are the main features of Korean neotectonics. The Japan Sea is not a result of horizontal drift of the Japan islands, but it is a block of continent lowered during the Kehma plate elevation on the north of the country. The formation of the current morphostructures in the continent and sea is caused by vertical character of the neotectonic movements.
