Main geochemical and geological characteristics of China's medium-large gas fields

Main geochemical and geological characteristics of China's medium-large gas fields

Shiyou Xuebao = Acta Petrolei Sinica 19(1): 1-5

This paper focuses on the major geochemical and geologic characteristics of China's known medium-large gas fields. Natural gas can be categorized into three types: coal-formed gas, oil-type gas and biogenic gas, based on gas composition and carbon isotopes, in which the carbon isotopic values of ethane and other higher hydrocarbon gases may act as effective indicators of origin.
