Mode of occurrence and features in the steep slopes at the foot of Rokko Mountains; steep slopes caused by the earthquake and further failure by subsequent rainfall in eastern Kobe City and Asiya City

Proceedings of the Symposium on Geo-Environments 11(Pages 373-378

Many steep slopes were damaged by the Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake. These steep slopes occur in Motoyama area, Asiya city area and Itayado area. We described the occurrences of the steep slopes in detail. Altered minerals in the steep slopes were identified by X-ray diffraction to estimate of weathering degree. Chemistry of the many rocks in the steep slopes were analyzed by XRF to check the weathering. Many slope failures were taken place heavy weathering area such as kaolinite bearing slope. Some slope failures occurred along the vein in the granitic slopes.
