On classifications and characteristics of the Devonian hydrothermal sedimentary facies in the Qinling Mountains, China

The concept of hydrothermal sedimentary rock facies at the Devonian in the Qinling orogen is discussed. Classifications of the subfacies and microfacies of hydrothermal sedimentary facies and their characteristics are described. In terms of the patterns of hydrothermal rock ore formtion, there are six subfacies: hydrothermal synsedimentation, hydrothermal synreplacement, hydrothermal deposition in turbidity currents, hydrothermal fluid pressure-fracturing and explosion, hot brine vadose replacement, and explosion and fluid pressure-fracturing of hot fluid or fluid-like magma fluids. These subfacies are units of tectonic petrologic strata that establish the stratigraphic framework in the analysis of a sedimentary basin. Based on geochemical dynamics and associations of hydrothermal rocks, however, there are six different subfacies: siliceous rocks, barite rocks, albite rocks, Fe-Mg-carbonate rocks, scapolite-biotite rocks, and sulfide rocks. These subfacies are sequence units of rock-geochemical strata and the geochemical units of paleo-hydrothermal fields of ore-forming fluids for the systems of hydrothermal deposition and geochemical types of paleo-hydrothermal ore-forming fields in the geochemical analysis and simulation of hydrothermal depositional basins.
