Abstract
Successful oil/gas exploration theories in eastern China have failed in the Tarim Basin. A new theory, of oil and gas secondary migration is proposed. It reflects the effects of polycyclic tectonic evolution in China on reservoir formation, and is in agreement with the enrichment of fluid mineral products such as oil and gas. It is a key to solving the present difficulties with hydrocarbon exploration in the Tarim Basin.
