The Western Ghats and the associated tectonism in Deccan Trap area

The Western Ghats and the associated tectonism in Deccan Trap area

Special Publication Series - Geological Survey of India 64: 585-597

The origin of the Western Ghats of India can be attributed to the tertiary tectonism in particular which followed the separation of continental masses during cretaceous. The Quaternary tectonism finally shaped the Ghats. It's a receeded fault scarp having its parent position off the present coast.
