The experiment of Fourier transform to the geochemical data processing for petroleum exploration in Tarim Basin, China

Fourier transform is testified to with geochemical data in the Yakela-Luntai region, Xinjiang. Low-pass filtering can erase the noise of data, and band-pass filtering can help to select a promising anomaly and eliminate the regional difference caused by geological background variety. With band-pass filtering, a unified lower limit of an anomaly can be regionally applied. This application can avoid using different values of the lower anomaly limit in different geologic settings. The Fourier transform has a promising prospect in geochemical data processing.
