Host-size preference of the parasitoids, Anisopteromalus calandrae (Howard) and Choetospila elegans (Westwood) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae)

Bangladesh Journal of Zoology. December; 312: 155-162
Host-size preference of the parasitoids, Anisopteromalus calandrae (Howard) and Choetospila elegans (Westwood) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae)
Host-size preference of the parasitoids, Anisopteromalus calandrae (Howard) and Choetospila elegans (Westwood) on Sitophilus oryzae (L.) were studied. Host-size had significant effects (P < 0.01) on parasitization and it was highly correated. The number of the parasitoid emergence and their percentage, the proportion of total parasitization with size class ( alpha 1) and electivity index ( epsilon l) showed that the 2.356 mm size was the most preferred host size for both A. calandrae and C. elegans. No parasitization was recorded on 1.104 mm size class.
