Is benthic activity of stream invertebrates related to behavioural drift?

Is benthic activity of stream invertebrates related to behavioural drift?

Although benthic activity and drift occur within the same light phase, the correlation between these variables is poor. The ratio of mean activity among stream invertebrates mayflies, etc. in the dark to that in the light may be inversely related to seasonally increased photoperiods. This hypothesis is discussed.
