Langmuir circulations and a possible mechanism of formation of fish associations around a floating object

, : Langmuir circulations and a possible mechanism of formation of fish associations around a floating object. Okeanologiya, 222: 314-321

The publications on Langmuir circulations characteristics and their influence on the distribution of plankton are reviewed. A critical consideration is given of the available hypotheses on the formation of fish associations around floating objects and a new hypothesis is given. The latter are regarded as a mechanical force responsible for regulating the distribution of floating material and carrying pelagic animals to the floating material or activating their movement towards it.
