On the specific sensitivity of olfactory receptors in carp, Cyprinus carpio, and burbot, Lota lota

On the specific sensitivity of olfactory receptors in carp, Cyprinus carpio, and burbot, Lota lota

Voprosy Ikhtiologii, 285: 846-852

The extracellular registration of receptor impulses from the olfactory bulb surface was performed in Cyprinus carpio and Lota lota in response to epithelial stimulation with various chemicals. In addition to receptors reacting to all the used stimuli, the olfactory organ of these fish species has receptors with limited and various sensitivity spectra. The problem of the functional types of receptors and their role in odor discrimination was discussed.
