During the extensive field work of the Geneva Natural History Museum in Paraguay, larger samples of the little known glandulocaudin species X. macropus Myers and Miranda Ribeiro were collected. The comparison between the morphological and osteological characters of this species and of Tyttocharax madeirae Fowler shows affinities between these species, mainly in osteology of the neurocranium and in the hypural complex. Their common characters are discussed and compared with those known from other glandulocaudine genera.
