Revista de Biologia Marina, 222: 157-168

In a total of 956 specimens studied only 9.3% was infested. Parasites occurred in individuals between 2 to 7 years of age beginning at a shell length of 51.2 mm (4.6%), reaching a maximum at four years of age (12.8%) and then diminishing progressively with molluscs age till a length of 130 mm (4.8%). The infested specimens had a gonadic weight decreased in 13.7%. However, when comparing the data with a student-t test the gonad weight is not significantly different. The average number of parasites per host was 2.28. The presence of this parasite varies through the year and it seems to be independent of the host sex. The average intensity of infection is low compared with previous information known from other areas and species.
