This account deals with the barbels of Clarias batrachus (Linn.), (S. order; Siluroidea, Family Clariidae) and Lepidocephalichthys guntea (Ham.), (S. order: Cyprinoidea, Family: Cobitidae). Barbels were treated in Bouin's fixative and 6[long dash]8 microns thick sections were stained with Delafield's Haematoxylin and Eosin. Description is based on the structure of maxillary barbels.
