Electroreception And The Ampullae Of Lorenzini In Elasmobranchs

This is a preliminary report on behavioral experiments with Scyliorhinus canicula in which local electrical stimulation of the animals was combined with surgical elimination of the ampullae of Lorenzini by means of severing the nerve; these showed that the ampullae may indeed be used as electroreceptors.
