Seasonal occurrence and abundance of Myzus persicae in tobacco fields of Shandong

The population dynamics of Myzas persicae (Sulzer) in tobacco fields of Shandong Province was monitored during 1999 - 2005. The experimental results revealed that M. persicae population had one peak each year, usually at late May or early June. In most of years M. persicae did not has the second peak of its populations and occurred dominantly in apterous individuals. The present paper also discusses the dominance of apterous aphids and the causes of the decline of M. persicae field population in recent years in Shandong Province.
