This paper present the result of the European beaver Castor fiber L. inventory in the north part of Wielkopolska region. Beavers were counted there using the questionnaire method. 919 beaver colonies were found in the study area (497175 ha). Dens (78% colonies) prevailed over lodges (22% colonies). The mean population density was 18 colonies per 100 km2. The highest density of the beaver was in the NoteC river valley.
