The technique of determining irregular areas in morphological studies

In determining irregular areas in biological work, the planimetric method is quite inaccurate, particularly for small areas. The area-weight method, when carried out with the use of bond or ledger paper, is much more accurate, but still is subject to errors which can not be disregarded in careful quantitative work. The area-weight method, as carried out with celluloid composition sheets, is much more accurate than the same method when paper is used, and is recommended to investigators whose problems involve the very accurate determination of areas of irregular outlines.
