Atmospheric fungi of the city of Cuernavaca, State of Morelos Mexico

Petri dishes with Sabouroud's medium were exposed for 10 minutes, every 8 days, on a house roof 5-7 m high, for lyear. Six hundred and eighty-four fungi colonies were identified. Hormodendrum found all year round, showed the greatest incidence; it's prevalence was highest from Jan.-Feb., June-July and Nov.-Dec, with a total incidence of 29.97%. Helminthosporium appeared in every month except May, with an incidence of 12.86% and a total of 88 colonies. Alternaria only occurred in Feb. (2 colonies), with 0.29% of the total. Rhizopus incidence was 103 colonies and 15.06%, with the exception of Sept., it occurred throughout the year. Mucor gave 20 colonies and 2.93% with its greatest incidence during the first days of Jan., Absidia gave 7 colonies and 1.02%, in Sept., Cephalosporium gave 90 colonies and 13.16%, appearing during the entire year with its greatest incidence in Oct., Penicillium appeared all year round with 85 colonies and 12.43%. Monilia sitophila was sporadic, giving 53 colonies and 7.76%. A. fumigatus had 2 colonies and 0.87%, A. niger 2 colonies and 0.93%, and Streptomycetaceae 13 colonies and 1.90%.
