The effects of chlortetracycline (etc) and oxytetracycline (otc) on the survival, morphological characteristics and antibiotic production of etc-producing A. aureofaciens and otc-producing A. rimosus were studied. The dependence of the survival of spores on the strain activity is direct, but the dependence of the survival of spores on the antibiotic concentration is inverse. Ctc in the concentrations tested has a selective effect, decreasing the frequency of morphological mutations and increasing the proportion of the most active types in the natural population of A. aureofaciens.
