Comparative study on the chemistry of pleural exudates and the blood in pulmonary tuberculosis: Mineral composition of pleural exudates

The authors made quantitative analyses of chlorides, phosphates, K, Ca and Mg in plasma and pleural effusions in pulmonary tuberculosis. All analyzed elements, except Cl and Na, had a slightly higher conc. in the blood plasma than in the pleural effusion. Milliequivalent conc. of anions and cations is practically the same in plasma and pleural effusion.
