Congenital absence of the gallbladder and cystic duct

Congenital absence of the gallbladder and cystic duct

Acta Chir Scand 132(6): 768-771

A personal case of congenital absence of the gallbladder and cystic duct is presented. When this condition is found at operation, the common duct should be exposed from the liver to the duodenum. Operative cholangiography is imperative, not only for ruling out an abnormally located gallbladder but also to reveal intra- and extra-hepatic conditions. The incidence, embryology and clinical features are briefly discussed.
