Cytophotometric studies of the DNA content in mouse liver cell nuclei under conditions of C-avitaminosis

An almost complete disappearance of polyploid nuclei was observed in mouse liver parenchyma, which constitute normally about 70% of the total number of nuclei, in the conditions of a deep C-avitaminosis. It is shown that in daughter nuclei amitoses do not cause any considerable deviation of DNA content compared with the genetically balanced one, and they could be thought to be responsible for the depolyploidization observed.
