Distribution of vitamin B12 in the body of albino rats and the effects on the vitamin B12 content of tissues and organs after administration of vitamin B12

Distribution of vitamin B12 in the body of albino rats and the effects on the vitamin B12 content of tissues and organs after administration of vitamin B12

Bitamin 13: 209-211

The vitamin B12 content of the bone marrow (141 mgamma/g) was found to be the highest of the tissues and organs of albino rats. Kidney, spleen, and muscle contained 99.2, 35.8, and 22.5 mgamma/g, resp. When 1 gamma vitamin B12 was given subcutaneously daily for 6 days, the content in kidney was increased 4 fold, and in the spleen 2 fold. Other organs showed no significant increase. When 1 gamma was administered orally for 6 days, only the kidney showed significant increase.
