The results of a study of the bivalve mollusks of the families Veneridae, Petricolidae and Cooperellidae. Reference to the original descr., type locality, range, collecting stations and descr. notes of 55 spp. and subspp. are included. 9 spp. and subspp. are illustrated. The following are described as new Nioche. subg. in Chione; Notochione, subg. in Chione: Paphonotia. subg. in Irus; Pitar (Hyphantosoma) aletes. Gulf of Calif.; P. (Lamellicomcha) frizzelli, Gulf of Calif.; P. (Pitarella) mexicanus, Mexico; Chione (C.) guatulcoensis, off Mexico; Cyclinella kroyeri ulloana, Gulf of Calif.; Petricola (P.) lucasana off Mexico; Anomalocardia mangeri (A. subrugosa Manager, not Venus subrugosa Wood).
