Effect of BHC applied in water of paddy field against toe rice stem borer, Chilo suppressalis Walker

The effect of BHC emulsions applied to toe surface of toe irrigated water in paddy fields to control the rice stem borer, Chilo suppressalis Walker, was studied in field tests. The number of toe stems damaged by toe rice stem borer decreased significantly in toe treated plots. Different BHC formulations significantly altered effectiveness. If toe parts injured by the rice stem borer extend to upper and lower levels of toe irrigation water in paddy field, toe insecticide which was originally sprayed or dusted on rice plants and fell into toe irrigation water will give effective control of toe rice stem borer.
