This study examines the physical reaction of the fruit-stem system to mechanical inputs for the purpose of designing vibratory harvesters for tree crops. Laboratory data indicates that, to maintain a high degree of selectivity, the input frequency must be set according to coffee cherry ripening conditions. This concept must be verified by field tests.
