Abstract
Severe and protracted inanition was followed by a cessation of sexual activity and by regression of the secondary sexual characters, analogous to the effects of castration. By regulating the hypo-alimentation the sexual deficiency was prolonged for 308 days. Realimentation was accompanied by gradual re-integration of sexual characters and activity, the alteration of the germinative function persisting longer than that of the endocrine function. No permanent lesions of the sexual glands followed inanition.
