Evolution of liver function tests in different clinical forms of infectious hepatitis

Evolution of liver function tests in different clinical forms of infectious hepatitis

Bol Medicine Hosp Infantil mexico english Ed 2(3): 204-221

Liver function tests were allowed in 34 cases of mild hepatitis in preschool and school children, 37 episodes of hepatic coma and 29 cases of hepatitis in newborns and infants. The flocculation tests were usually normal and in 85% of the cases of SGOT/SGPT ratio was under 1.0. Cases with total bilirubin values greater than 15.0 mg/100 ml were most severe. The thymol and cephalin cholesterol flocculation tests were most useful in differentiating neonatal hepatitis from biliary atresia. The tests remained abnormal for longer than 6 weeks in the complicated cases.
