Two electrodes were set upon the exposed frog's heart to send alternating current to it, then the action currents were led off by the same electrodes to record the ecg. The ecg. was recorded as a band of light and its width was considered to indicate the variation of membrane impedance of cardiac tissue [Z]. During the whole course of activity, the membrane impedance [Z] tended to decrease. During ST, [Z] decreased in proportion to the deviation of ST from zero. During T-wave, [Z] is decreased slightly in the case of discordant T, markedly in the case of concordant T.
