Experimental bone lengthening by epiphysial distraction

British Journal of Surgery 46(196): 169-173

A method of bone lengthening by epiphysial distraction is described. In the puppy, gains in length varied between 4 and 15 mm. After the period of distraction, the epiphysial cartilage may revert to normal histologic and radiologic appearance and growth may proceed in the usual manner.
