Statistical investigations were made on hundreds of bacteria of the fluorescent group to determine melanin formation from tyrosin, diastase content, denitrification, and behavior under varied environmental surroundings, as temp., salt concentration, etc. Further trials were made on the relationship between fluorescent bacteria and Bacterium tumefaciens, and their relationship to the so-called colorless fluorescent bacteria. A natural body of water was examined statistically for 1 yr. as to fluorescent bacteria, and the division of the different kinds and races watched during the seasons.
