Fluorescent buckwheat pigments. IV

Fluorescent buckwheat pigments. IV

Chemicke Listy 40(6): 127-129

The author describes the method of isolation and purification of fagopyrine. As solvents he used acetone and tetrachlormethane. Purification of the pigment was achieved by repeated adsorption on aluminium oxide (Brockmann) and by other adsorbents. The benzoyl derivative of fagopyrine was prepared. By strong reduction of pigment, a red hydrocarbon, mesoanthrodian-threne, has been developed. These facts confirm some of the author's earlier suppositions as to the constitution of the fagopyrine.
