A sap transmissible flexuous-rod virus about 12-15 x 750-825 m[mu] was isolated from mottled young leaves of gamagrass collected in Calhoun County, Illinois. Symptoms induced by the virus in healthy gamagrass were similar to mottling in field plants; in corn they were similar to those induced by maize dwarf mosaic virus. The virus is tentatively designated the Illinois gamagrass isolate of maize dwarf mosaic virus.
