Hibernation sites of bats in Moldavia

Zoologicheskii Zhurnal 44(6): 941-943

ISSN/ISBN: 0044-5134

Data are presented on hibernation of 11 bat spp. (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, R. hipposideros, Myotis myotis, M. oxyganthus, M. bechsteinii, M. dasycneme, M. mystacinus, M. daubentonii, Plecotus auritus, Barbastella barbastellus, and Vespertilio serotinus) in the stone-pits and in the grottoes of Moldavia. Four bat spp. are recorded for the 1st time in this Republic; the same holds true for hibernation of 3 other bat spp. Some ecological peculiarities of hibernation of Chiroptera in these galleries are described.
