Investigations into articular cartilage, bones, teeth, and cock's comb proved that for histochemical purposes cresyl fast violet may be used with the same specificity as toluidin and alcian-blue for the demonstration of metachromasia-generating tissue structures. The method is a simple one, not calling for counter staining, and supplying durable preparations.
