Immunofluorescence studies with viruses of the infectious bovine rhinotracheitis and bovine herpes in calf-kidney cell cultures

Immunofluorescence studies with viruses of the infectious bovine rhinotracheitis and bovine herpes in calf-kidney cell cultures

Arch Exp Veterinarmed 21(3): 801-808

The localization of virus-specific antigen of various virus strains of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) and of Bovine Herpes (IPV) in calf-kidney cells was examined with fluorescent antibodies. Using both the direct and indirect technique it was possible to detect the 1st specific fluorescence phenomena in the nuclear membrane and later in their cytoplasm, but not in the nuclei, the method used being that of fluorescence serology. IBR-IPV-antigen could be observed in the cells before the onset of cytopathological cell changes, so that this method is also suitable for the routine diagnosis in animal health institutes.
