A study of polysaccharide A in serological reactions gave high antigen titers in the ring test and in the complement fixation test. Most of the Staphylococcus aureus strains examined gave the polysaccharide A line on agar precipitation. Some Staphylococcus epidermidis strains also gave the specific line. Antibodies to polysaccharide A were not found in human sera.
