Inheritance of resistance to Puccinia sorghi in six corn inbred lines

Single major genes which condition resistance to P. sorghi were revealed in each of 6 resistant corn inbred lines through inheritance studies involving the rust-resistant inbreds, and F1, F2, F3, and backcross progenies derived from them. The genes are in an allelic series and have been designated as Rp1, Rp2, Rp3, Rp4, Rp , and Rp6 in the rust-resistant inbreds GG208R, B38, K148, Cuzco, B49 and P.I.172332, respectively. Resistance was dominant to susceptibility and higher levels of resistance were dominant to lower levels of resistance.
