With the increase of the antigen dose, the antitoxin level (AE) rose and also the LD50, but with the increase of the force of antigen stimulation, the LD50 rose to a greater degree than AE. The proportion of LD50:AE varied in immunity dynamics: 7 days after immunization mice acquired a measurable resistance to tetanus toxin at an almost indeterminate content of AE in the blood. Between the 14th and 22d days the relative rise of LD50 outstripped growth of AE by 1 1/2-2 times, and between the 22d-28th day the relative rise of LD50 was the same or less than the growth of AE. The more time passed after immunization, the higher was the level of AE. The authors assume that the antitoxin concentration in the blood is conditioned not only by the immunity state of the organism, but by other mechanisms which regulate the appearance of antitoxin in the blood.
