Introduction of woody-shrub species in the sandy desert of Southeast Kara-Kum Working experience from the Repetek sandy desert station

Akad Nauk Turkmensk Ssr Ashkhabad : 124-137

This is a survey of work on landscaping populated areas of Southeastern Kara-Kum' from 1933 to 1962. (Plant selection and culture). The author considers it necessary to study the specific anatomical and physiological features of the plants, as well their external condition and development in order to make positive recommendations about using the woody-shrub species tested. In order to do this the author made the following studies on 14 woody and shrub species growing in the Repetek sandy desert station: the rate and dynamics of the opening of the stomata, the dynamics of leaf moisture, transpiration, the ability of cell sap to retain water, suction in the cell sap, the presence of sugars in the leaf (qualitative analysis). All these studies were conducted on plants 5 to 10 years old. The data obtained are given in 7 tables.
