Main aspects of the problem of congenital toxoplasmosis and the question of making further studies of them

Med Parazitol Parazitarn Bolezni 34(5): 597-601

A short review of literature concerning the main aspects of the problem of congenital toxoplasmosis is presented. As a result of analysis an attempt is made to outline the following most important aspects requiring further thorough study: investigation of new more reliable and simpler methods for diagnosis of toxoplasmosis; investigation of the mechanism of transplacental transmission of toxoplasms; investigation of the mechanism of reactivation of latent toxoplasmosis during pregnancy; investigation of the role of latent toxoplasmosis in the etiology of miscarriages and still-births; investigation of more rational methods of treatment of toxoplasmosis in pregnant women.
