Abstract
Fucoidan consists mainly of fucose and sulphate. It may possibly be used as a blood anti-coagulant. Laminaran is a reserve carbohydrate of the brown algae, and forms no viscous or gelating solutions. Laminaran sulphate may have therapeutic significance. Mannitol can be used in the pharmaceutical and other industries.
