Five per cent malathon dust at the rate of 25-30 lbs. per acre controlled the Mexican bean beetle as well or better than dusts containing parathion, CS-708, isodrin, methoxychlor, rotenone, and EPN, applied at the same rates. Beans plcked about 1 week after dusting contained no residues which could be detected by chemical analysis and had no off flavor.
