Mouse test for the infectlvity of metacercariae with particular reference to metacercariae in snail faeces

Mouse test for the infectlvity of metacercariae with particular reference to metacercariae in snail faeces

Trans Amer Microsc Soc 76(3): 327-328

Viability of Fasciola hepatica cysts is easily determined by administering them to mice with a pipette, and examining the liver and peritoneal cavity 3 weeks later. The parasites are lethal within 6 weeks. Snails rasp the metacercarial cysts off walls of containers and ingest them. These appear in the feces in viable condition.
