Natural infection of guinea pigs and domestic rabbits with Pasteurella pestis. Does the presence of guinea pigs in the rabbit hutch keep away rats ?

Natural infection of guinea pigs and domestic rabbits with Pasteurella pestis. Does the presence of guinea pigs in the rabbit hutch keep away rats ?

Bull Soc Path Exot 45(3): 425-427

P. pestis was isolated from a guinea pig and 3 rabbits from a rabbit hutch in the suburbs of Tananarive. The owner kept a few guinea pigs with his rabbits to keep away rats, but in the authors' experience this does not work.
