Nitrogen fertilization time in maize on reddish-brown soil at the experiment station Moara Domneasca

An experiment was completed during 1957-1960 concerning fertilization time with N at the rate of 80 kg/ha or in superphosphate mixture, at the rate of 40 kg/ha P2O5. According to the average grain yields during 4 years it was established that N fertilization in maize is not a factor in conditioning grain yields. Ammonium nitrate at the rate of 80 kg/ha N in the presence of superphosphate at the rate of 40 kg/ha P2O5 applied under the basic tilling slightly influenced the grain yield, averaging a 147 kg/ha (4.2%) increase.
