More than 7,000 children in various fluoride-temperature zones were given oral examinations to determine the prevalence and other epidemlologic aspects of nonfluoride enamel hypoplasia. Results indicate that the occurrence of nonfluoride enamel hypoplasia is not random. Continued research is needed for a satisfactory classification system and for determining the etiology of these developmental enamel defects.
