Key to nine species of Notropis which are characterized by the typical count (2,4[long dash]4,2 teeth, 7 or 8 anal rays) and a dark lateral band (except for hypsilepis). The following are the nine species treated in the key and discussed elsewhere in the paper hypsilepis, asperifrons, baileyi, petersoni, xaenocephalus, roseus, chalybaeuscnrosomusV and lutipinnis.
