On some temperature regime characteristics of Astragalus densissimus Boriss. and A. piletocladus Freyn et Sint. shrubs

Tr Bot Inst Akad Nauk Sssr Ser 5 11: 174-185

During the summer period the temperature regime depends on the ecological conditions of the plant habitat and the different growth forms of these shrubs. The most rigorous temperature regime is found under the shrub tops on southeastern slopes while the microclimate under the umbellate Astragalus piletocladus is characterized by the most continental daily temperature regime. The temperature regime under the top of the pulvinate Astragalus densisimus is milder. But at same time the degree of heating on the surface of this shrub canopy is more intensive than on the taller Astragalus pileotocladus. The ecological adaptation of A. densissimus to the more soddy slopes with a northern exposure or to the flatter steppe sections, the microclimate of which is characterized by a milder temperature regime and a higher air humidity, indicates that this species is more mesophilous than Austragalus piletocladus distributed on crushed stone southern slopes or on open crushed stone sites.
